Alenti band first time appeared in Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2013. It combines the music of Greece, Balkans and Mediterranean. The group features the lyra, a pear-scheme bow instrument derived by Aegean Sea , played by Pantelis Agkistriotis, the Kanun, a Near Eastern zither, played by Vasilis Zigkeridis, the double-bass, played by Giorgos Polychroniadis and the percussion set-up, played by Alexandros Rizopoulos. Yannis Dionysiou is the leader voice of the Alenti’s first album, called “Jasmine”(2021). Alenti often writes music that reflects the sense of “harmolypi”, a Greek word that combines the senses of joy and melancholy.
